Synopsis: A look at the influence of American Jazz on British Music. It includes: a look at the 1919 British tour by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, and the wave of British imitators that followed the groups success; an examination of the anglicisation of the US jazz sound, with British dance bands appropriating elements of the style; a British song factory set up on American lines on London's Charing Cross Road; how the rise of the Hollywood musical made things difficult for British composers; and 1930s move towards a `Swing' style.Synopsis: TV documentary on popular song and dance in the 1920s. Second of three programmes about the transatlantic take-over this century of Britain's popular song and dance.
